      A much-appreciated inn on the 192-mile Coast-to-Coast route, this village green pub offers a warm welcome to walkers and locals alike. The opened-out interior features a stone floor and wood-burning stoves and is home to the local sword dancers. Two ciders and a perry are usually available. Food is available April-October and geared to walkers' needs, with hearty evening meals using much locally-sourced produce, although booking is advisable. Winter hours vary and are much more limited (closed Mondays, open evenings only Tues-Fridays and closed Saturday and Sunday afternoons).

      The knocked-through interior of this community-owned pub provides a number of separate areas, featuring two wood-burning stoves. A spacious separate restaurant opens onto the decked terraced beer garden. The slightly altered new name distinguishes the pub from the Green Dragon in nearby Bedale. Numerous village activities include the folk club, book club, gardening club, a weekly coffee morning and the monthly women's group (aka the Dragons). A popular beer and cider festival is held on the August bank holiday weekend. Opening times vary according to season. Sells Real Cider. Cask ales sold at reduced price on Tuesday evenings.

      At the heart of the village, this homely multi-roomed country inn was CAMRA National Pub of the Year for 2016, a runner-up in 2020, and has been Champion Pub of Yorkshire several times. A pleasant walk from Richmond (if you do not mind the 300+ steps!) brings you to the pub's large beer terrace with fantastic panoramic views over the Swale valley. Owned by the community, it boasts its own library, shop, and allotments. Sells real cider. On days where menu is not served "nibbles and snacks" are available. Bank Holidays the pub is open noon to ten p.m., and meals are served until 5 p.m..

      A friendly micropub in a shopping arcade near the town's Applegarth car park, offering a warm welcome in a small, cosy environment. It serves a selection of local ales plus craft beers and up to twenty Real ciders. The staff are keen to offer advice and guidance to customers. Holds seasonal beer festivals and a pub quiz on the last Sunday of each month. There is no music, gaming machines, wifi, children or sports tv, just good old-fashioned chat. Free soft drinks and coffee are available for designated drivers. Choice always includes a dark beer. Closed 21st-30th January.

      Old stone-built pub predominantly a restaurant. The front bar features attractive wood panelling with Rennie-Mackintosh-styled wrought ironwork. Owned by the same people as the nearby Queen Catherine. Opening times may vary, so it is worth checking beforehand.

      Close to Richmond's castle on the cobbled marketplace and close to the bus terminus, this pub offers four cask ales, three of which change regularly. Home-cooked pub food is available daily. Pool, live sports and music TV are popular features and there are also regular folk nights.

      Near the foot of the Market Square The Castle is a friendly pub serving up to four real ales, one real cider and good value food in long knocked-through main room with a separate side room. Run by Richmond Brewing Co, whose brewery is down the hill in the old station, it is their only pub in the town and always serves at least one of their beers, plus guest ales. Accommodation is upstairs, and live music sometimes features.

      Old but comfortable local on a picturesque cobbled street at the edge of the town centre. Closed for a couple of years, but reopened March 2024.

      This extremely attractive village lies just off the Wensleydale – Kettlewell road and is set around a large green. The only pub is close to the unusual weather vane monument and stocks on the green and is popular with walkers. It features a narrow low-beamed bar with imposing stone fireplace along with a separate dining room. Bar food is served and there is en-suite accommodation to English Tourist Board 3 crown standard.
